Well when watching an anime you do get the tendency to see a lot of stereotypes which repeat through quite a few series. Half the time you wonder if your personality would ever be able to fit on a character but when you do that you seem get to the realisation that it would probably over complicate the story.

I don't see it that way it all. I find it really fun
and interesting to be like another character from anime...
I tell people I'm like "Ritsu and Yui" from K-ON all the time!

Yes, but its more of the question would [i]your[i/] personality fit into an anime or manga?
Mine probably would on some aspects but others would be totally incompatible.
I have a dry sense of humour and use sarcastic remarks quite often, I don't lie if you ask me an honest question. I don't value anyone else's life above my own nor have I ever given half a damn about another person. I'm polite when talking to people I don't know but when you befriend me I'll take liberties and throw slightly harsh jokes at you, correct you on anything you say thats incorrect or just belittle you.

I can say that these traits only work in real life, I don't tend to be hostile towards people I don't know personally. Plus this is what I do with a few select friends since half of them are bastards and need to be put in their places. I do have friends that don't experience most of the above since they have interesting personalities and deserve some sort of respect for how they are.

I think stereotypes can be terrible and rude; there are two stereotypes that I do not like in anime.

One is how homosexual characters are portrayed as flamboyant if male and masculine if female; although some people are like that, not everyone is and it can be really incorrect on the real world.

Another is how every female character wears revealing clothes and is basically just fan service aimed towards heterosexual men, it's not only sexist, but really unfair to men and women who are attracted to men.

Well I think the main point of the fan service aimed at heterosexual men is that Japan isn't really big on homosexuality. Unless your story is for women.

Stereotypes aren't always a bad thing. They can be humorous and fun.
A stereotype only becomes offensive when it's target cannot laugh at how it poorly represents them.
That would be like me taking offense to the comment, "All British people have bad teeth." When I actually find the comment pretty funny due to the ignorance of the statement.

I think stereotypes make anime funny. e.g in shangri la and DT ixion saga. It makes characters more memorable

I think Japan kind of gets away with putting certain stereotypes in their shows as they're not really as exposed to it as either an American or Canadian would with other races, and there's also nobody to complain about it over there.

A lot of people read manga or watch an anime and aren't necessarily "impressed" by the storylines or character goals, and there is definitely a reason for that: The authors are using the same type of characters and storylines. The "Save the World with your friends" storyline can only be done so many times before people start to notice a connection, and it gets old
