I feel like I've just missed three posts.
But, since this thread has been revived, what series do people think have been dubbed well? Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell are very well done. I steer well clear of Funimation dubs since I can hear the same female voice actor across every series I've ever watched by them. Get some recommendations in!

I like Funimation dubs, but I do agree that they reuse the same cast too much. Though I've run into a bunch of anime with reoccurring voice actors, so Japan's not exempt from that as well.
Some of my favorite dubs are probably Haruhi Suzumiya, Death Note, and A Certain series. Last edited by Grungie; 09-11-2013 at 05:57 PM. |

Oh no.
I did not like Haruhi's dubs one bit. I'd have that one with subs.

I find that I'm a bit iffy when it comes to dubs anyway.
I tend to watch everything as its released, which is sub only. When I've tried to watch any dub that I've already seen some sub of, I just can't commit to the voices. They're usually massively different and don't have the right tonality for my liking. there's usually the arguement about being able to see more of whats going on on screen as well when watching dubs, but I've always been able to read fast, watching subs only made it quicker so I don't miss a beat even when reading the subs.

Dubs in general are just unappealing to me.

I think dubs are fine as long as the voice actors they choose for the roles match and hold feeling.
I can't tell you how many dubs I've come across that were beyond hideous. *coughArcRiseFantasiacough*

Americas voice acting business isn't huge and the good voice actors are too expensive for anime (Disneys use of A-list celebs for their animations).
Why don't one of you guys start a voice acting agency? Train people, scout out talent and hire them out. (If only it was as easy as that.)

If it was as easy as counting I would have done that from the start.

Hey, you never know if you don't try.
I might have a look in to the VA industry in UK and see how that works.
